The Skylar McNeil Foundation provides cash assistance to families with young children under the age of 18. The program specifically provides financial help in a variety of ways which include, but not limited to; medical bills, cable, internet, health insurance, car payment, electric, rent and mortgage assistance.
Skylar Janae McNeil was a rare and delicate flower that was sent from heaven on October 8, 2013 to bloom in the McNeil’s garden. Skylar possessed a contagious smile and laugh which she shared so freely, and dimples to melt your heart. On March 15, 2016 at the young age of 2, she died in her parents’ arms at the Walt Disney Pavilion Children’s Florida hospital. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends who were all touched deeply by her life.
Skylar’s life would seem too short to many, but those who were touched by her understood that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. If you had the pleasure of spending time with Skylar you would know that Skylar had a mind of her own and stuck to her own agenda. She possessed strength, perseverance, and the ability to overcome incredible odds and physical challenges. With her courage, she led us to believe that each day is a blessing and an opportunity to create lasting memories.
Skylar spent the majority of her time playing with her twin sister Camille, listening to music, reading books, and in her parent’s arms. She absolutely loved oatmeal, Cheerios, taking baths (anything that involved splashing) and climbing on the dining room table. With Skylar’s passing we remind others that her life is one to be celebrated. Skylar lived a happy, high-spirited life. Although we will miss her every day, she will forever remain in our hearts. Through the memories of Skylar’s energetic life and love, we are able to hold on to wonderful memories. It was a privilege and an honor to have had the opportunity to be her parents. We are also so thankful that Skylar’s sister Camille had 2 years to spend with her; her time with her “sissy” will always be remembered and cherished.
Skylar is survived by her parents, Jonathan and Carlene McNeil; her twin sister Camille McNeil; paternal grandparents, Philip and Betty McNeil; maternal grandparents, Lludloo and Rosemerrie Walton.
